Sealcoat is a mixture of liquids and small particle solids (like grains of sand) that provide protective and restorative qualities for asphalt pavements.
It’s usually made up of varying amounts of dissolved asphalt, mineral fillers, and water, and is applied as a spray or with a squeegee or broom. Applying this protective coating to the asphalt will prevent damage to the asphalt from constant exposure to water, UV rays, oil, and abrasion from traffic.
A regularly scheduled sealcoating program will more than double the life of the asphalt, saving you significant repairs or replacement in the future.
Instead of having to pay thousands of dollars for new pavement, it's more cost effective to spend only pennies on the dollar per square foot to maintain it by sealcoating.
When it’s applied to the surface of asphalt pavement, oils in the sealcoat seep down and help replace some of the depleted asphalt oils and binder that have dried up over time.
At the same time, the small particle solids fill in small cracks and gaps between the pieces of aggregate, making the pavement surface more even and level. Sealcoating refreshes the appearance of asphalt, doubling its longevity while protecting it and making it look new again.
The process of sealcoating your parking lot or driveway with Pavement Transformations begins with careful assessment of the current condition of the surface. The asphalt is then thoroughly cleaned to give the sealcoat a fresh surface to securely bind to.
We recommend that any cracks that have formed be filled in with hot crack sealer. Two heavy coats of sealcoat are then either sprayed or brushed directly onto the asphalt. After the sealcoat had dried, any necessary line striping is then completed.
